On 21 June 2025, the UP cabinet approved its first Urban Green Policy for urban local bodies (ULBs), introducing rooftop & vertical gardens, Miyawaki mini-forests, green belts, and low-emission zones. It establishes a Green City Monitoring System with star ratings, funded via AMRUT 2.0, NRCP, and CSR. The policy emphasises community engagement through tree-planting and green fairs.
