On 22 June 2025, opium farmers in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh urged a revamp of the 2025–26 opium policy, demanding recognition of opium as a medicinal crop, traditional cultivation rights, and a minimum price of ₹50,000/kg. They seek discontinuation of the CPS model, fair compensation for by-products, and a CBI probe into alleged corruption at the Central Bureau of Narcotics.
