On 20 June 2025, HAL won a ₹5.11 billion bid from IN‑SPACe to commercially manufacture Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) rockets. This enables HAL to build and operate SSLV for payloads up to 500 kg, offering cost-effective launches for domestic and global clients. Part of India’s space privatization push, it deepens the Make-in-India space supply chain and boosts India’s share in the global launch market.
